Presumptive Disability Expedited Process When Applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Being diagnosed with a severe medical impairment that prevents you from working can without a doubt cause a financial crisis for anyone. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) can offset some of your financial problems for those who qualify. This income based federal assistance program provides monthly benefits for citizens who are age 65 or older, blind, and disabled due to severe medical impairments. For those who are applying for SSI on the grounds of disabilities or blindness, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will disperse Presumptive Disability benefits for a period up to six months before an initial medical disability decision is made. Presumptive Disability is granted first by meeting SSI income requirements, you have been diagnosed with a severe medical condition, your claim undoubtedly will receive a favorable decision, and not implemented on your financial situation. Let says, for some reason your final decision is not favorable then SSA will not be required to ask for repayment of Presumptive Disability unless fraud is found.
SSA will make a finding of presumptive disability and blindness in correlation of specific medical disability categories on the following conditions:
- Amputation of a leg at the hip
- Allegation of total deafness
- Allegation of bed confinement
- Immobility without a wheelchair, walker, or crutches u to longstanding condition
- Allegation of stroke and 3 months status post-accident and continued restrictions in walking, using hands, and arm
- Allegation of cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, muscle atrophy
- With marked restrictions in walking, speaking, and coordination of hands/arms
- Allegations of Down syndrome
- Allegations of severe mental deficiency made by another individual filing on behalf of a child at least 7 yrs. old
- Allegations of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
